Naomi C. Seavers, 95, of 606 Meigs St., Sandusky, passed away early Saturday, May 5, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, after a brief illness.
She was born April 24, 1912, in Greenville, S.C. On Dec. 20,1991, at the age of 79, she received her diploma from Sandusky High School. She had various jobs throughout the years and in later years she devoted her time to her family. She was married for 75 years to James W. "Candy Man" Seavers who preceded her in death.
She is survived by eight children -- two daughters, Vivian (David) Lash and Swiyyah Mutaali and six sons, Richard, Gregory (Goldie) of Sandusky, Theodore (Othella) of Altadena, Calif., Gary of Crofton, Md., Thomas (Renee) of Massillon, Ohio, and James E. (Lacy) of Memphis, Tenn.; 39 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernell Ray of Sandusky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Audrey Parker and Joyce Seavers; three sons, William and Robert and a son in infancy; her parents, George and Lena (King) Wilson; three brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. The Rev. Curtis A. Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky
