Pearl M. Johannsen, 90, of Sandusky, died early Saturday evening, May 5, 2007, in Concord Care & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Sandusky and was a 1935 graduate of Margaretta High School. He retired from Sandusky International in 1980 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Sandusky, Sandusky AMVETS Post 29, American Legion Post 83, VFW Post 2529 -- "Dads", and IAM (International Association of Machinists). He enjoyed piano tuning, repairing clocks and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Irene L. (Seibel) Johannsen; one daughter, Beth Day of Chapel Hill, N..; four stepdaughters, Mary Ann (Gil) Lopez of Crown Point, Ind., Patti Hand of Huron, Susan R. (James) Blainey of Sandusky, and Sharon L. (Paul) Strain of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Ronald P. (Billie) Johannsen of Norwalk; three stepsons, William R. (Marilyn) Hewitt of Kettering, Ohio, John E. (Nancy) Hahn of Sandusky and Thomas R. (Amy) Hahn of Canton, Mich.; one sister, Irene (Dean) Daniels of Sandusky; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Hahn) Johannsen in 1964; his parents, John and Ziltha (Brown) Johannsen; his stepmother, Emily Johannsen; and two brothers in infancy.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Tuesday until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Elmer Novak of Emmanuel United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
