Nora Bell (Wikel) Smith ,82, of Vermilion Twp, died Thursday, May 2, 2007, in Community Health Partners West, after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 26, 1925, in Berlin Heights and was a lifelong Vermilion resident. She worked as a secretary at Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church for many years. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church where she was active in the Aural Club and the Merry Makers. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting and crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence Smith; two sons, Alfred Smith of Sandusky and Lauren Smith of Vermilion; a daughter, Karen Quinn of Pickerington; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis E. and Elsie E. (Van Schvetz) Wikel; her sister, Elsie Gede; and a brother, Louis Wikel.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today in Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Ohio and Grand streets, Vermilion. The Rev. William A. Seith, interim pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
