Francis Twarek, 82, of Marblehead and formerly Solon, Ohio, died May 1, 2007, in Riverview Senior Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor.
He was born April 25, 1925, in Marblehead, the son of Michael and Anna (Hanik) Twarek, now deceased. He married Magdalene "Maggie" Richick on June 18, 1949, and she preceded him in death March 1, 2006. Fran worked for U.S. Gypsum, retiring from C & A Drywall, a subsidiary of U.S. Gypsum in 1986. Fran was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead and VFW Post 7572, Marblehead, where he was a past commander. He was member of American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, and he was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his daughter, Mary Ann (Robert) Cook of Demotte, Ind.; sons, Thomas (Ellen) of Crawfordsville, Ind., James (Christine) of Aurora, Ohio, John (Tina) of Kansas City, Mo., David (Susan) of Solon; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, George, Cal and Larry Twarek, all of Marblehead; and sister, Helen (Butch) Meterko of Marblehead.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Michael and John; sisters, Mary Kokinda, Anne Babcock and Sophia Hallier.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday in Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, with parish prayer services at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Saturday until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, with The Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Byzantine Church Cemetery, Marblehead, with military graveside services by VFW Post 7572 .
