William W. Smith, 89, of the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in his residence, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Jersey City, N.J., and lived most of his life in Huron. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was employed by U.S. Tsubaki, formerly Union Chain, for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He was past commander and a life member of American Legion Post 83, Sandusky.
He is survived by his son, Thomas (Carol) Smith of Norwalk; and daughter, Susan (Rick) Weichel of Sandusky; grandchildren, Aaron (Faye) Smith and Kevin (Amanda) Smith; a great granddaughter, Kailee Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Lucille (Werner) Smith; first wife, Charlotte in 1957; second wife, Alyce in 2004; brother, Fred and sister, Marjorie.
At William's request, there will be no visitation or services, cremation will take place at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky.
