Emma T. Alton, 87, of Sandusky, died early Monday evening, April 30, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born July 29, 1919, in Fremont. She was a 1937 graduate of Margaretta High School and Sandusky Business College. She was employed as a waitress with the Log Cabin Restaurant for 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Alton is survived by two daughters, Teri (Joel Stout) Lawson and Mary Ann Alton, both of Sandusky; a granddaughter, Christy (Kenny) Whitcomb; a great-granddaughter, Emily; and two great-grandsons, Frankie and Zack; two sisters, Mary Carlisle of Florida and Viola Biagetti of Leesburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Alton; parents, Joseph and Terry (Tomachi) Deme; three brothers, Joseph, Frank and William Deme; and a sister, Helen Kucia.
Friends will be received from4-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, with The Rev. Philip Feltman officiating. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
