Martha Frances (Reid) Heidl, 79, of 2816 Campbell St., Sandusky, and recently of Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home, Huron, died Sunday morning, April 29, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
She was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Birmingham, Ala. Martha was a 1945 graduate of Sandusky High School and attended Providence School of Nursing. She was employed as church secretary at Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky, then at First Presbyterian Church, Sandusky, before her retirement. During her time as secretary, she taught Sunday school at both churches. Martha was a member of First Christian Church, Sandusky, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a very talented artist and craft person.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard D. Heidl, whom she married Nov. 16, 1946, in Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky; two daughters, Donna Schneider of Castalia and Carol Heidl of Sandusky; and one grandson, Shawn Schneider of Toledo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Amos Lamar Reid Sr. in 1959; her mother, Pauline Freeman Reid Kinney in 1988; one brother, Amos Lamar Reid Jr. in 1988; and her favorite uncle, the Rev. Herman Cobb in 1988.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, 3410 S. Hayes Ave., (Ohio 4), Sandusky. Pastor Don Spurlock will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha's name to First Christian Church.
Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
