Alice M. Cander, 88 of Providence Commons Assisted Living, Sandusky, and formerly of Marblehead and Euclid, Ohio, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Marblehead, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Capko-Pepa) Pepon, now deceased. She married Joseph Cander on Feb. 7, 1947, and he preceded her in death Oct. 5, 2006. Mrs. Cander worked for White Motor Company in Cleveland retiring in 1978. She was a 1937 graduate of Danbury High School, a member of the Slovenian Women's Club of Euclid and a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky.
Surviving are her brothers, Joseph (Mary) Pepon of Sandusky, Michael (Beatrice) Pepon of Marblehead, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph; and sisters, Marian Bird, Anna Myers and Elaine Kuznik.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead and from 10 a.m. Thursday until a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead. The Rev. James Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Marblehead Volunteer Fire Department.
