The Rev. Charles W. Rogers, 67, of Port Clinton, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the son of Elias Price and Esther Elizabeth (Smith) Rogers. He married Louise Rentschler August 6, 1958. He was a Lutheran minister having served in three churches in Reynolds, N.D., Ossineke, Mich., and at St. John Lutheran Church in Rocky Ridge, Ohio. He then went to work as a youth counselor in Erie County for a couple of years. He then went back to serve as a Lutheran minister at Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville, and finally at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury Township, where he retired in 2005. He was also a member of the Ministerial Association.

Survivors include his wife, Louise; sons, Mark (Cheryl) Rogers of Troy, Ohio, and David (Brenda) Rogers of Gibsonburg, Ohio; daughters, Karen (Tim) Bretz of Sunberry, Ohio; and Laura (Matthew) Ball of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brock Heath, Ashley Michalke, Scott Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Chad Rogers, Elias Rogers, Samantha Rogers, and Kathrine Bretz; great-grandchildren, Majo Poggi and Olivia Michalke; brother, Theodore (Lori) Rogers of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Murle (Vincent) Harris of Greentown, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Wayne Rogers; and sisters, Betty Witner, Nina Mae Justin and Elwilda Purdy.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Marblehead, and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until funeral services at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Danbury Twp., with Bishop Marcus C. Lohrmann of the Northwestern Ohio Synod, ELCA and Pastor Chris Young of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
