William Jacoby, 89, of Sandusky, died Thursday afternoon, April 19, 2007, in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Wauseon, Ohio, and was a graduate of Sandusky High School and John Carroll University. He was employed as a sheet metal worker out of Union Local 33. He was in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky, and was a life member of both the VFW and DAV. He was an avid golfer at Mills Creek and Woussickett, playing in several leagues, and he enjoyed woodworking.
Bill is survived by a daughter, Sandy (Harry) Morris and son, William (Diane) Jacoby, both of Castalia; four grandchildren, Drew (Liz) Jacoby, Tami (Paul) Beatty, Tim (Cindy) Morris and Suzan (Rick) Napka; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Henry (Katherine) Jacoby of Port Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Brunner) Jacoby on April 16, 2007; his parents, Karl and Katrina (Aozion) Jacobi; sister, Bertha Baker; and brother, Carl Jacoby.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky, with The Rev. Chris Kardzis officiating. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery with military services by American Legion Post 83.
