SPRING HILL, FLA.
Donald J. LaCourse Sr., 73, of Spring Hill, Fla., and formerly of Sandusky, passed away April 17, 2007, after a brief illness.
Donald was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Sandusky. He spent his early years commercial fishing on Lake Erie. He retired in 1993 from Ford Motor Co., Sandusky, after 31 years. He was an avid country music fan and spent most of his life playing steel guitar with his band, The Memphis Sound, in area clubs and taverns.
He is survived by daughter, Karen McCowan Sandusky; sons, Donald Jr. and William, both of Sandusky, Gerald and Jeffrey, both of Tennessee, and Jonathan of Florida; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; his wife, Faith of Florida; half brother, Robert (Pat) LaCourse of Sandusky; half sisters, Donna (Bob) Langenfelder of Sandusky and Shirley (Ken) Pearson of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret LaCourse; brother, Walter Jr.; and granddaughter, Allyson LaCourse.
Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. May 6, 2007, in the Eagles Club, 1235 Perkins Ave., Sandusky, for a reception and celebration of Donald's life.
