Karl "Daniel" Myntti, 70, of Norwalk, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 18, 2007, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
He was born March 8, 1937, in Replot, Finland, where he graduated high school and served in the Finnish Army. In 1958, he moved to the U.S., where he served in the Army Reserves. He attended Brigham Young University and later met his wife, Ruth, in Los Angeles. Together they moved to Norwalk in 1970 and opened their floor covering business, Carpeteria. He enjoyed cooking with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a passion for golfing, boating and traveling.
He is survived by his sons, Troy (Julie) Myntti of Rocky River, Ohio, and Dan (Nicole) Myntti of Lakewood, Ohio; daughters, Ingrid (Ebony) Myntti-Wright of Elyria, Ohio and Tina (Richard) Edwards of Medina, Ohio; five grandchildren; a granddaughter on the way; brothers, Stig (Soili) Oist and Olle (Susanna) Oist; sisters, Elisabet (Hans) Gustavson and Eva (Bruce) Sveen; nieces and nephews all of Stockholm, Sweden; and his beloved family in Finland and Utah. He is also survived by many members of the Carl and Emma Smith Family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Smith) Myntti, in 1989; and his mother, Elna E. Myntti, in 1997.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday in Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, where a wake service will be 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
