James Iceman, 80, of Sandusky, died early Monday morning, April 16, 2007, in Portland House nursing facility.
He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Ashland, Ohio. He retired from Commercial Printing in 1991, after almost 20 years of employment as a printer pressman. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, serving from 1944-46.
Mr. Iceman is survived by two daughters, Janet L. Retzke of Sandusky and Linda S. (Carl) Grendow of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Steven W. Iceman of Sandusky and Bradley (Darla) Iceman of Oxford, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, James and Emily Barnum, F.E. Houseman, Jason, Justin and Jacob Iceman, Roxanne Wechter, Molly Pratt, Michael Retzke, Michelle Wadding, and James and Jeff Jordan; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Marjorie Maxwell of Marion, N.C.; his brother, H. Dean (Carol) Iceman of Clinton Twp., Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera M. (Bowen) Iceman, Oct. 31, 2005; his parents, Howard and Virgil Mae (Reed) Iceman; a daughter-in-law, Lynda C. Iceman on Aug. 28, 2005; a son-in-law, Gary M. Retzke on Sept. 8, 2005; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Iceman in infancy.
Private family services will be Friday in the Chapel of Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, with The Rev. John Mawhirter officiating.
