Michael "Mike" Czeczele Jr., 83, of Potter Road in Bellevue, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007, in Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla.
Mike was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Bellevue and is the son of the now deceased Michael Sr. and Mary Bella Czeczele. Mike was employed by Johnson Furnace and was a custodian for Bellevue Schools. Mike married Rose Lapata on July 15, 1961, at Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the American Legion Post 46, and Eagles Aerie 490. Mike was also a long time Legion Color Guard, and Burial Honor Guard. In addition, Mike was a champion at horseshoes and spent his winters at Horseshoe Cove in Bradenton.
Mike is survived by a son, Michael (Laurie) Czeczele III of Elmore, Ohio; a daughter, Debbie (Leo) Schlotterer of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph (Juanita) Czeczele of Bellevue; two sisters, Irene (Harold) Canode of Bellevue and Helen Czeczele of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rose, parents, and brother Basil Czeczeli.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 today at Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Interment will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
