Mabel M. (Soule) Hunter, 96, of Sandusky passed away early Saturday morning, May 22, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born May 31, 1913, in Fremont and was a 1931 graduate of Fremont High School. She retired as a cook from the Perkins school system with more than ten years of service. Mabel was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sandusky. She was a member of Oxford Grange, Pamona Grange, and State and National Granges, One-Alone Club and 4-County Young at Heart Club. She enjoyed dartball and bowling, being involved in many bowling leagues, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Russell) Brennan of Sandusky; son, David (LaVohn) Hunter of Bellevue, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Betty Roth of Sandusky, Donna Aspden of Fremont and Lynette Spitler of Clyde; brother, Charles Soule of Clyde, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Hunter, in 1967; daughter, Dawn Waggoner; son, James Hunter; her parents, Joseph and Hazel (Snavely) Soule; three sisters, Luella Engler, Esther Beier and Hazel Moyer; two sisters in infancy; and brother, James Soule.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home; the Rev. Kimberly Secrist Ashby of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Bloomingville Cemetery.
