Barbara L. (Haynes) Huntley, 76, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 10, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Dayton, Ohio. She was a 1949 graduate of Sandusky High School and attended Ohio University. With her husband, Jim, she owned and operated Peerless Stove from 1969 until her retirement in 1997. She volunteered at Firelands Regional Medical Center, South Campus, Meals on Wheels and the State Theatre. She had a fondness for researching genealogy and a great love for her family. She was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, and an active member of its choir, was one of the oldest and beloved members of the Sandusky Sailing Club, and was a member of Sandusky Yacht Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Bruce) Roberts of Sandusky; sons, Bradford "Brad" (Margy) Huntley of Vermilion and Bryan (Julie) Huntley of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Jayme, Jessica, Shane, Nathan, Emily, and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Huntley (April 30, 2003), and her parents, Russell Joseph and Edith Irene (Evans) Haynes.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Wednesday until a memorial service at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Rob Patton will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow the service from 4-6 p.m. at Sandusky Yacht Club, 529 E. Water St. Private Interment will be later in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron.
