Carl W. "Fuzz" Fastzkie, 73, of Oak Harbor, and formerly of Port Clinton, died Friday, April 13, 2007, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.
Fuzz was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Port Clinton, the son of Carl W. and Marie L. (Hansen). On May 7, 1955, in Port Clinton, he married Sally L. Petersen, and she survives. Fuzz was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a plumber for 101/2 years for General Motors, retiring in 1991. Prior to that, he worked 18 years for Ohler and Holzhauer in Port Clinton and 8 years for the U. S. Gypsum Company. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton and had served on the church council. Fuzz was also a member of the National Wood Carver's Association, Elks Lodge 1718 of Port Clinton, co-founder, along with Howard Smetzer, of the Tuesday morning wood carver's group at St. John Lutheran Church, and coached Little League in Port Clinton for three years, and girl's softball in Port Clinton for five years. Fuzz enjoyed fishing with his grandkids and getting together with his fellow woodcarvers. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include, loving wife of 51 years, Sally L. Fastzkie of Oak Harbor; son, Michael (Shannan) Fastzkie of Greer, S.C.; daughter, Kristi (Robert) Lorensen of Port Clinton; six grandchildren, Megan, Nathan, Bess and Lydia Fastzkie, and Marcus and Jessica Lorensen; brother, Ronald Fastzkie of Oak Harbor; and several nieces and nephews.
Fuzz was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Laurie Fastzkie.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today, with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where services will be 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Ralph Schibler will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fuzz's memory can be made to Ida Rupp Public Library, Port Clinton or Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
