Barbara L. (Haynes) Huntley, 76, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 10, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 15, 1931, in Dayton. She was a 1949 graduate of Sandusky High School and had attended Ohio University. She had owned and operated, with her husband, Jim, Peerless Stove from 1969 until her retirement in 1997. She had volunteered at Firelands Regional Medical Center, South Campus, Meals on Wheels and the State Theatre. She had a fondness for researching genealogy and a great love for her family. She was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, an active member of the choir, one of the oldest and beloved members of the Sandusky Sailing Club, and the Sandusky Yacht Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Bruce) Roberts of Sandusky; sons, Bradford "Brad" (Margy) Huntley of Vermilion and Bryan (Julie) Huntley of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Jayme, Jessica, Shane, Nathan, Emily, and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Joseph and Edith Irene (Evans) Haynes; husband, James H. Huntley on April 30, 2003.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services at 2 p.m. in St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Rob Patton will be officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow from 4-6 p.m. in the Sandusky Yacht Club, 529 E. Water St., Sandusky. Private Interment will be held later in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron.
