Ronald L. "Ron" Riesterer, 59, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly, late Friday afternoon, April 6, 2007, in his home.
He was born April 24, 1947, in Sandusky, and was a 1965 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Vietnam War. Ron retired in 2006 from the Delphi Corp. where he had worked as a tool and die maker for 28 years. Prior to that he had worked at the Sandusky Foundry and Machine for nearly 10 years. Ron was an avid bowler, having bowled for many years, in several leagues in the local area, and he had bowled two perfect 300 games. He had an untouchable spirit and love of life, his family and friends, and one of the best laughs ever heard. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, UAW Local 913, American Legion Post 93, Knights of Columbus Council 546, Sandusky Orioles, and he was very active at the Sandusky Eagles Aerie 444.
He is survived by his son, Gary L. Riesterer of Toledo; daughters, Wendy C. Riesterer of Columbus and Alexa R. Riesterer of Sandusky; two brothers, Richard (Annette) Riesterer of Huron and David Riesterer of Sandusky; former wives and friends, Mary A. (Cucaro) Riesterer and Michelle Riesterer; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Betty (Cary) Riesterer; a daughter in infancy, Angie Riesterer; and a son in infancy, Scott Riesterer.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Philip Feltman will be officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
