Gloria Elaine Strutz Wright, 81, of Sandusky, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2007, surrounded by her family, in Parkvue Healthcare Center, after an extended illness.
She was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Marinette, Wis. She received her teaching degree from Oshkosh State Teachers School and taught at Ferndale and Phillips Schools. She was a homemaker, wonderful mother and grandmother. She was an active member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, where she was a member of Elder Stephens, Women's Guild, Christian Board of Education and a former Sunday School teacher. She also impacted many children through foster parenting.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Mark) Scheeler and Jean (Michael) Windau and son, Dean Wright, all of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Lindi Wright, Andrew and Spencer Scheeler, and Grace and Nicholas Windau; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Sorensen; and two sisters, Faye Mork of Warren, Mich., and Donna (Glen) Dahl of Marinette, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Roger V. Wright, in 1996, whom she married, June 16, 1951; and her parents, Ernest E. and Cora M.C. (Fuhrmann) Strutz.
Family and friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. Monday until services at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Rob Patton officiating. Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, is in charge of arrangements.
