Ralph F. Ritzenthaler Sr., 78, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928, to Ralph and Estil (Ruse) Ritzenthaler, now deceased. He was married to his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann (Davie) Ritzenthaler, on July 4, 1950, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Sandusky. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk; a member of Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club; and a former member of the IAB Club in Sandusky. He was a 1946 graduate of Norwalk High School. He worked for the former Standard Oil Co. and The Gulf Oil Co. He was in the auto sales business for 30 years, working for Ebert & Son Motor Sales, Warehouse AMC/Jeep, Sandvick Motor Sales and Bill Klaus Cadillac dealerships, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with his family, along with boating, fishing, woodworking and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Norwalk; sons, Ralph F. Jr. (Debi) Ritzenthaler of Norwalk, Thomas G. (Jean) Ritzenthaler of Norwalk, and Dennis E. (Toni) Ritzenthaler of Norwalk; one daughter, Ann M. (Michael) Englert of Willard; six grandchildren, Chris, Stephanie, Brett, Shawn, Jared and Kennedy; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas; a sister, Gayle Watson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph F. Ritzenthaler in 1951; and his mother, Estil (Ruse) Ritzenthaler in 1959.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday in Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, where a rosary service will be 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
