Joel D. Brooks, 62, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, March 31, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 27, 1944, in Krypton, Ky. He graduated from Margaretta High School. He retired after 30 years of employment with Delphi Chassis. He was a member of Perseverance Lodge 329 F&AM in Sandusky, National Rifle Association, the Fitchville Gun Club, AMVETS Post 17, and UAW Local 913. Joe was also a skilled knife maker who took great pride in his work.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, the former Darlene S. Butts, whom he married June 24, 1978; two daughters, Kimberly (Clayton) Massey of Missouri and Buffy (Larry) Dauch of Clyde; two sons, Joel L. and Shane Brooks, both of Sandusky; a granddaughter, Brittany Brooks; two sisters, Patricia Brenner of Wisconsin and Nancy Perry of Arizona; a brother, Michael Brooks of Sandusky; as well as several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Theron and Ruby (Shoop) Brooks, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park. Groff Funeral Home, Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
