James H. Lange, 82, of Sandusky, died Wednesday evening, March 28, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus.
He was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Sandusky, and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II. He was employed by Burger Distributing for 31 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, VFW Post 2529, Sandusky, and loved spending time with family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Wiedeman) Lange, whom he married July 17, 1953; daughters, Patricia (Lewis) Lange-Otsuka of Aiea, Hawaii, and Susan K. (David) Daniels of Madison, Ohio; sons, Jeffrey (Rene) Lange and David Lange, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Jessica, Kristin, Jordan and Lorin; sister, Gloria (Charlie) Reedy of Sandusky; brothers, Richard (Sue) Lange of Findlay, Ohio, Eckhart (Lennie) Lange of Eldersburg, Md., Robert (Shirley) Lange of Guyton, Ga., and Skip (Beverly) Lange of Kansas City, Mo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eckhart and Elsie (Darst) Lange Sr.; son, James; and sister, Mary Jane Huntsman.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Monday and from noon Tuesday until services at 2 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Ernie Bowman, past chaplain of American Legion Post 83, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, with the American Legion Post 83, Honor Guard providing a military tribute.
