Franklin Edward Schiffel, 85, of Willard, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007, in Crestwood Care Center in Shelby, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 1, 1921, to Stephen and Pauline (Habakus) Schiffel, now deceased, and had been a life-long Willard resident. He is a 1941 graduate of Willard High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving three years during World War II. He retired in 1983 as a floor inspector from the former Standard Tube Company in Shelby. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Willard and the Willard VFW Post.
He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann (Bill) Armatrout of Willard and Marsha Schiffel of Medina; one son, James E. (Mardell) Schiffel of Willard; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Steve Schiffel of Mansfield.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia E. (Reese) Schiffel, on Sept. 6, 2006; four brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., Willard, where services will be 11 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Jerry Rhea officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Willard.
