Dorothy J. Ameigh, 88, of Marblehead, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Valleyview Healthcare Center, Fremont.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1919, in West Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Iva (Williams) Talmadge. On Feb. 1, 1940, she married Robert Ameigh, and he survives.
She was a homemaker, having made her own clothes and upholstered furniture. She was also a bookkeeper for the family-owned plumbing and heating business, Ameigh's Installation Service. After that, she and her husband Robert purchased Holiday Acres Trailer Park and Marina in Marblehead, which they still own today. Her hobbies included writing, including many memoirs, but her main love was art, sculpting, and oil painting. She was very successful in selling her artwork at various arts shows. She also loved flowers and cats.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; sons Larry Ameigh, Marblehead, and Ron (Luz) Ameigh, Johnson's Island; granddaughter Asia Ameigh; and grandson Brian Ameigh. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Chick, Jess and Tom Talmadge; and sister Doris Chance.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 East Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, with the Rev. Jerry Phelps officiating. Burial will follow at Sackett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
