Mildred G. Detro, age 91, of Tallahassee, Fla., but a Sandusky native, died Friday afternoon, March 23, 2007, in Tallahassee.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1916 in Huron and attended Sandusky Public Schools. She had been employed by the F.W. Woolworth Co. and Forster China and retired from the Pic-N-Pay Food Chain after 21 years of service. She was a life member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, Worship Committee, Chancel Choir, Good Cheer Class and UMW. She was also a member of Erie County Church Women United, the Senior YMCA Women's Group, AARP, Friends of Trinity Methodist Church and the UFCW Retirees Club; and had served as a Campfire leader for several years.
Mrs. Detro is survived by two daughters, Carol D. Schee of Tallahassee, and Nancy L. Anders and husband, Carl E. Anders, Jr. of Pinehurst, N.C.; one brother, Wayne Adam and wife, Alice, of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Sherrie and husband Steve Brown of Maryland, U.S. Army Major Mark Anders of Iraq and wife Jean Anders of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Carl and wife Leigh Anders III of S.C. and Jonathan Schee and Christopher Schee, both of Florida; great grandchildren, Emily Kate, Jackson Blake and Riley Brooke Anders, and Stephenie Leigh and Shelby Lauren Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn W. Detro; parents, John and Irma (Bruns) Adams; and a sister, Ruth Murdock.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. in Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stacy Terrell officiating.
Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, is in charge of local arrangements.
