Paul R. "Dick" Niehm Sr., 82, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday evening, March 20, 2007, in Erie County Care Facility.
He was born March 26, 1924, in Sandusky. He owned and operated several service stations in Sandusky for more than 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Air Corps, serving in World War II. He was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, and a life member of American Legion Post 83, AMVETS 17 and VFW 2529.
Dick is survived by his wife, Corinne (Missig) Niehm, whom he married July 27, 1947; two daughters, Karen (Nick) McCall of Norwalk and Cheryl (Douglas) Washek of Sandusky; three sons, Paul Niehm Jr., Richard (Debra) Niehm and James (Jeanette) Niehm Sr., all of Sandusky; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his sister, Dorothy (Richard) Haughn of Sandusky, three brothers, Dr. Bernard (Eunice) Niehm of Gallipolis, Ohio, Robert (Barbara) Niehm of Wilcox, Ariz., and Raymond (Virginia) Niehm of Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Hedwig (Panzer) Niehm; his sister, Audrey Dixon; and his uncle, Emil Niehm.
Friends will be received 4-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, where services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Rob Patton, of St. Stephen UCC, officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
