Evelyn M. Maurer, 90, of Huron, passed away late Sunday evening, March 18, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 4, 1916, in Bellevue, and was a 1936 graduate of Bellevue High School. She was a 1961 graduate of the Sandusky School of Practical Nursing where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Following graduation, she had worked for a few years at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Sandusky. She later went to work for many years at Ward's Ju-Jue Shoppe. She enjoyed her home and spending time with her family and friends. She was involved at the Erie County Senior Center and volunteered at Serving Our Seniors. She was a member of the Huron United Methodist Church, but had been a past member of Salem United Methodist Church and First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Orlin W. Maurer; daughter, Barbara (George) Mayer of Huron; son, Thomas (Peggy) Maurer of Castalia; two grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Ineson and Tommy Maurer; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Jack Ineson; step granddaughters, Cindy Schirg and Kim Aufdencamp; step great-grandchildren, Michael and Nicole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Ethel (Schwartz) Tibboles; two brothers, Robert and Alexander Tibboles; two sisters, Thelma Appell and Dorothy Maize.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Saturday until services at 10 a.m. in Huron United Methodist Church, 338 Williams St., Huron. The Rev. Roger Skelly-Watts and Don Linn will officiate. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum, Huron.
