Elizabeth A. "Biffy" (Hagg) Bartels, 86, of Sandusky, passed away late Monday morning, March 19, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born March 20, 1920, in Norwalk, and was a 1938 graduate of Norwalk High School. She was a homemaker and a great mother, who dearly loved her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, but loved to go fishing. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Jeannette (Dennis H.) Hahn and Annette (Richard) Broski and two sons, Thomas E. (Beverly) Bartels and Michael S. Bartels, all of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Timothy A. (Marcia) Hahn, Stephen D. (Brianna) Hahn, Jennifer (Travis) Koelsch, Angels H. Broski, Jillian L. Bartels, Keith T. Bartels and Gregory M. Bartels; one great-granddaughter, Brittney K. Broski; sister, Agnes (James) Gosser Sr. of Sandusky; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Phillip and Marcella Pauline (Finklenbarg) Hagg; husband, Richard E. "Dick" Bartels on Oct. 30, 2004; two sons, Kenneth R. Bartels in 1982, and George Bartels in infancy; daughter, Julieann Bartels in infancy; sister, Mildred Kotz; two brothers, Edwin and Kenneth Hagg.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Gathering Space, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where a Liturgical Service will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday and prayers will be 9:40 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. The Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Arrangements entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
