Naomi R. Howard, 80, of Bellevue died Monday, March 19, 2007, in Bellevue Hospital.
She was born in 1926 in Crawford County, Ohio. She was a 1945 graduate of Mount Zion High School in Crawford County, rural Bucyrus, Ohio. She played the violin in the high school orchestra and was a drum majorette in the high school band. She played on the girls high school softball and basketball teams. She moved to Bellevue in September 1953. She was employed as a draftsperson by the former General Telephone and Electronics Co. of Ohio, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Four County Young at Heart Senior Center and the Community Center, all in Bellevue. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union, Lodge 328, and the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. She served as a volunteer at Bellevue Hospital Gift Shop and for the Sandusky County Red Cross Bloodmobile. She enjoyed flower gardening, crafts and was an avid reader.
She is survived by a son, Edward L. (Janet) Howard of Clyde; daughter, Kathie A. (Gary L.) Hudson of Bellevue; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Henry Harris of Bucyrus; sisters, Lucile (Dwight) McBride of Sycamore, Ohio, and Reba-Betty (Robert) Johnson of Bucyrus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Howard, whom she married June 9, 1946, in Bucyrus, and who died Jan. 7, 1969; a son, Jerry Howard, on Nov. 22, 1967; parents, Frieda A. (Beamer), on Feb. 1, 1986, and Chester A. Harris, on Sept. 15, 1991; and a brother, Chester Harris Jr., on July 26, 2002.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until services at 2 p.m. at Harris-Foos Funeral Home, 289 W. Main St., Bellevue. Pastor Jane Ann Clarke of First United Methodist Church in Bellevue, will officiate.Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
