Esther E. (Rinker) Ernst, 81, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, March 17, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
She was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Bucyrus, Ohio, and was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School. She worked for near-ly 20 years with her husband, Robert F. "Pinky," at San-Bay Chemical Services, Sandusky. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Women's Guild, and she was very active in other activities in the church. Mrs. Ernst was also very involved at the Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert F. "Pinky" Ernst; children, Francene E. (Mark) Silcox of Fort Myers, Fla., Dean D. (Karen) Ernst of Sebring, Fla., Greg A. (Claudia) Ernst of Castalia, Roberta A. (Roger) Stephenson of Sandusky, and Robert F. Ernst; nine grandchildren, Jeff and Andy Silcox, Michelle Valvano, Scott, Eric, Jon, Amy Ernst and Brian and Beth Stephenson; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol (Bill) Nank and Helen (Bob) Homberger, both of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence E. and Donna A. (Dobbins) Rinker; and brother, Donald Rinker.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. today at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until funeral services at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson St., Sandusky. The Rev. Kimberly Secrist Ashby will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
