Janice E. (Strohm) Hush, 73, of Sandusky and formerly of Castalia, died Monday afternoon, March 12, 2007, in her home, among family and friends, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Sandusky, and was a 1951 graduate of Sandusky High School. She retired from the former Sandusky Dressed Beef Co. in 1993, after 43 years of service as a bookkeeper and more recently, she had been employed with the Sleep Inn in Sandusky.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sandusky, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 83, where she served as president for two years and secretary-treasurer for 18 years, AMVETS Post 17, and Eagles Auxiliary 444. She also served on the advisory board of the Ohio Veterans Home for eight years, past chapeau of the Erie County Salon 613 8 & 40 and was past president and treasurer of Volunteer Advisory Board. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Jill (Allan) McKillips of Sandusky and Joyce (Lynwood) Spencer of Huron; her son, Donald J. (Brenda) Hush Jr. of Castalia; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gary (Joyce) Strohm of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George G. and Lynnetta J. (Moyer) Strohm.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until services 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Ernie Bowman, Past Chaplin of the Sandusky American Legion, will officiate.
