ELWOOD FOUST - Apr. 15, 1918-Mar. 10, 2007

Sep 4, 2015

Elwood "Woody" Foust, 88, of Sandusky and formerly of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning, March 10, 2007, in his niece's home in Castalia.

He was born April 15, 1918, in West Carrollton, Ohio. He retired from National Cash Register as a machinist. He was married to the love of his life, Edith (Jackson) Foust, who passed away in November. Elwood enjoyed running marathons until he was 86 and took pride in having over 95 trophies. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, woodworking and reading.

Elwood loved being with his family. His famous "treasure hunts" and wit will be remembered by all. He shared his beliefs and faith in God with his family and friends and lived his life by example with a desire to teach kindness, giving more than you receive and living within your means. His goal was "to live to be 100 to be able to see how his loved ones turned out."

Elwood is survived by his sister, Dorothy Himebaugh, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith, and his parents, Howard and Henrietta Foust.

A graveside service for Elwood and his wife will take place Friday in Meadow Green Memorial Park. Groff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
