Marianna Cole, 60, Sandusky, went home to God Feb. 5, 2007, after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 26, 1946, in Providence Hospital, Sandusky. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1964. Marianna worked throughout her lifetime in Sandusky as a cook at Bonnie Lanes. In 1981, she moved to Maryland to work in a day care center as a cook and teacher. In 1987, she moved to Reno, Nev., where she continued to work in a day care center. She enjoyed taking care of young children and furthered her education in both the child care and juvenile dietary fields. In Nevada, she also established a preschool religion class for 3- to 5-year-olds at Saint Francis of Assisi Church. Teaching the little ones about Jesus was her passion. In 1992, Marianna was forced to give up her life’s work with children after suffering a stroke. She moved back to Sandusky and remained active in the community. She was a past president of The Stroke Club, where she fought for disability rights and to improve access to buildings and facilities.
Marianna is survived by her mother, Mary Jane (Kenne) Cole of Sandusky; brothers, Jude Cole of Arizona, Thomas Cole of Florida and James Cole of Sandusky; sister, Jeanette Cole of Arizona; nephew, Michael (Jessie) Cole of Arizona; aunts, Barb Kenne, Caroline Kenne, Joyce Kenne and Joan (Ronald) Stamm; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Cole; paternal grandparents, Archie and Mary Cole; and maternal grandparents, Elroy and Anna Kenne.
There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Philip S. Feltman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
