Lawrence "Barney" Wahl, 88, of Vickery, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Elyria Memorial Hospital.
Barney was born July 29, 1918, in Vickery, to Clarence G. and Rebecca (Meggitt) Wahl, now deceased. He graduated from Townsend High School in 1935 and was a charter member of the Townsend Twp. Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Townsend Ruritan Club. He was a World War II Army Air Corps Veteran. Mr. Wahl was president and CEO of Wahl Construction for many years prior to his retirement in the 1980s.
Survivors include his daughter, Virginia (Dennis) Bennice of Maumee; and a son, Thomas (Judy) Wahl of Norwalk; three grandchildren, Eric (Mindy) Wahl, Todd Bennice and Dr. Jennifer Bennice; and great-grandson, Wyatt Wahl.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Aurania (Vezos) Wahl, whom he married March 10, 1946. She died Jan. 30, 2002; a sister, Lucille Hummel; and a brother, Clarence "Junior" Wahl.
Visitation will be from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. today in Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde, where services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with The Rev. David Klappenbach officiating.
Burial will be Castalia Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by Clyde VFW and American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross of the Townsend Twp. Volunteer Firemen.
