Robert D. Sprankel, 67, of Berlin Twp., died unexpectedly, Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born Oct. 27, 1939, in Sandusky, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Berlin Heights High School in 1957. He worked at New Departure-Hyatt, Sandusky, for 24 years, retiring in 1993. For the last three years he has worked at Willow Way Nursery in Avon. He was an area farmer all of his life.
He is a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron; a former member of Huron Lions Club, Knights of Columbus in Huron, and the Berlin Heights Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marcella (Janka); three sons, Christopher, and Dale (Patricia), both of Berlin Twp., and Joseph (Brenda Poole) of Huron; two grandchildren; and a brother, Larry (Earleen) Sprankel of Dunnell, Fla.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alberta (Nickels) Sprankel.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron. The Rev. Jeffery Sikorski will officiate.
Burial will be in Peaks Cemetery in Berlin Twp.
