Glen W. Mitchell, 78, of Castalia, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born June 29, 1928, in Marmet, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was employed as a machine operator by Ford Motor Company for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He was an active member of Venice Road Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent, and American Legion Post 83 in Sandusky
He is survived by daughters, Jennifer Harvey of Crystal Rock and Ruby Klotz of Monroeville; sons, Kim Mitchell of Republic, Ohio, and Glen G. Mitchell of Castalia; grandchildren, Robert, Melissa, Russell, Dustin, Evan and Emma; sisters, Mary Cooper of West Virginia and Dorothy Workman of Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Mitchell, in 1998; parents, Edward and Catherine (Petree) Mitchell; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Venice Road Baptist Church, 3814 Venice Road, Sandusky. The Rev. B.R. Hatfield will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery, where American Legion Post 83 will conduct military services.
