Mary Jane Bergman, 91, of Port Clinton, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton.
Mary Jane was born July 29, 1915, in Clyde, the daughter of William and Mary Francis (Raths) Kessler. She was a 1935 graduate of Port Clinton High School. On April 18, 1936, in Port Clinton, she married Norval D. Bergman, and he preceded her in death March 12, 1995. Mary Jane was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Mary Jane was also a member of the Child Conservation League, the Dorcus Society and a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and a Girl Scout leader. She loved to travel and had been to every state. Mary Jane enjoyed camping and baby sat for a number of years in the Port Clinton area. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Ann (James) Minoff of Florida; sons, Thomas (Jean) Bergman of Port Clinton and Mark Alan (Jill) Bergman of Sylvania; sister, Ruth Ellen Bashore ofBellevue; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda Kay Vaughn; granddaughters, Amy and Suzan Bergman; sister, Donna Rose French; and brothers, James and Savoy “Bud” Kessler.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday in Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, with The Rev. Dr. Kurt Borows Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Mary Jane can be given to Resurrection Lutheran Church or to the Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Dept.–Ladies Auxiliary.
