Allen Edward Sholette, 80, of Edgewater, Fla., formerly of Huron, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, in Edgewater, after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Ogdensburg, N.Y. He resided in Huron from 1961-76, before retiring to Florida. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a steward on the great lakes on a variety of Motor Vessels, his last position was aboard the Columbia Star. Sholette also enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles and reading.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Church in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and a member of Associated Maritime Officers District 2 MEBA-AFL-CIO.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Raymonde (Rae); two daughters, Denise (Chuck) Knight of Huron; and Diane (Scott) Timple of Huron, grandchildren, Andrew and Brian Timple of Columbus, Andrea Knight of Bowling Green, Adam Timple of Bellevue and Seth Knight of Huron; a great-grandson, Jason Timple; two sisters, Margaret Amo of Edgewater and Anne Dillon of Newcomb, N.Y.; and many special nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marguerite (Madlin) Sholette; and an infant brother, Wallace.
Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron, with The Rev. William Bouhall, from St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Brooklyn, Ohio, officiating.
Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron.
