Hattie P. Blakely, 66, Sandusky, departed this life on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus.
She was born June 22, 1940, in Waynesboro, Miss., to Roy and Gracie (Aaron) Robinson. She moved to Sandusky in 1962 after graduating from Riverview High School. She was united in marriage to A.D. Blakely Sr. on Dec. 20, 1962, and he preceded her in death. To this union, three children were born. She retired from Ohio Veterans Home after 32 years. She accepted Christ and joined the Sweet Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Waynesboro and was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Sandusky.
She leaves to mourn her memory sons, A.D. Blakely Jr. of Sandusky and Michael A. Blakely of San Diego; daughter, Carol L. Blakely of Sandusky; grandchildren Morgan Pollard, Chaz Knerr, Tamara Blakely, T’aarin Monegan and Michael A. Blakely Jr.; sisters, Gracie Lee Hardy, Waynesboro, Earnestine Robinson and Bertha (Sam) McCants, both of Mobile, Ala., Lillie V. Robinson of Jackson, Tenn., Bettie (Willie) Lee of Chicago, Girtha Watson of Detroit and Bobbie Matthews and Shella Robinson, both of Sandusky; brothers, Johnny (Mae Retha) Robinson of Waynesboro and Sidney (Doris) Robinson of Sandusky; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, Willie D. Robinson, Under Ray Robinson, Bennie Lee Robinson, and Roy Robinson Jr.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Samuel Mickles will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
