Mary Ellen Fleming, 91, of Milan, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, in The Willows at Bellevue.

She was born July 17, 1919, in Flat Rock. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Milan, and the Ladies Guild of the church; the Women's Farm Bureau Council; Historical Society; and the Board of Directors for the 4-H Camp.

She is survived by her children, Edward J. (Clara Louise) Fleming of Bellevue, Barbara A. (Don) Tusing of Milan, and Margaret "Jane" (Don) Jackson of New London; daughter-in-law, Bertie Lou Fleming of Vickery; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 22 stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carl Swartz of Fremont, Velma Cox of Flat Rock, Alfred (Edna) Swartz of Plymouth, Phyllis (Bob) Snezek of Norwalk, LaDonna Gillis of New Hampshire, Nancy Vanderpool of Tiffin, Ohio, and Roy (Coleen) Swartz of Bellevue; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Fleming in 2000; son, Richard E. Fleming; grandson, Tony; mother, Lela (Fausnaugh) Swartz; brothers and sisters, Glen Swartz, Doris Swartz, George Swartz, Lester Swartz, James Swartz, Phillip Swartz and Margie Kay Swartz.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Groff Funeral Home, Milan Chapel, 1 South Main St., Milan, and from 10 a.m. Thursday until funeral services at 11 A.M. in St. John's United Church of Christ, 2712 W. Mason Road, Milan. The Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. Burial will be in York Free Chapel Cemetery, Bellevue.
