Chuck Wiedenhoft, 60, passed away unexpectedly July 27, 2010, from heart complications in Olathe, Kansas.

A native of Marblehead, Chuck graduated from Danbury High School in 1967 and received a B.S. in Engineering Physics from The University of Toledo in 1972. He continued his education at The University of Toledo where he earned his MBA in Operations Analysis in 1977, and at Harvard Business School where he completed an executive business program in 1988. Chuck entered the cement industry in 1972 with Dundee Cement Company as a Process Engineer and progressed through a variety of positions, including Quarry Superintendent, Senior Process Engineer, Production Superintendent, Production Manager, Manager of Manufacturing Planning, Vice President of Corporate Development, and Vice President and Technical Director. He joined Ash Grove Cement Company in 1995 as Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and was promoted to President and COO in 2002.

Ash Grove Cement Company is creating a scholarship fund in memory of Chuck for the Engineering School at the University of Toledo.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Paula of Olathe and Lakeside; children, Wendy (Jim) Wiedenhoft Murphy of Lakewood, Ohio, and Charles (Jennifer Wesselman) Wiedenhoft of San Diego, Calif.; parents, Charles and Hazel Wiedenhoft of Marblehead; sister, Lorie (Steve) Feyedelem of Marblehead; brother, Dale (Suzie) Wiedenhoft of Marblehead; and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck will be remembered as a man of character with a strong work ethic and devotion to his family, friends, and co- workers.

The wake was July 31, 2010.

In honor of Chuck's passion for learning and reading, memorial donations may be made in Chuck's name to Marblehead Peninsula Library Committee, PO Box 74, Marblehead, OH 43440.
