Marie E. (Amore) Quirk, 101, of Port Clinton passed away early Friday evening, Sept. 3, 2010, in Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor following a brief illness.

She was born May 21, 1909, in Coshocton, Ohio, daughter of the late Lloyd and Ella (House) Amore. Marie was a 1927 graduate of Coshocton High School and Salvation Army Theological Training College in Bronx, N.Y. She retired in 1982 from the Salvation Army as a staff office secretary in Philadelphia following many years of service. She lived in Sandusky from 1984-97 and was a member of the Sandusky Salvation Army where she was active with the children's ministry. Marie moved to Port Clinton in 1997 and joined Port Clinton Church of the Nazarene where she continued her walk with the Lord. Everyone that knew her loved her and she will be missed.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Joan Nelson of Port Clinton; stepson, William Quirk of Westford, Mass.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Amore of Chiefland, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Werkley; second husband, William Quirk; four brothers, Gail, Bervil, Paul and Norman Amore; and sister, Gertrude Shackelford.

There will be no visitation. A private celebration of life will be conducted at Port Clinton Church of the Nazarene; the Rev. Carolyn Joseph will officiate. Inurnment will be in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., at a later date.
