NORWALK Officials arrested two men after an assault on Cline Street sent one person to the hospital, Huron County Sheriff's Lt. Annette McLaughlin said. Conception Hernandez, 21, 200 block Plymouth St., Plymouth, and Cory Foster, 25, first block Cline St., are both in the Huron County jail facing charges of felonious assault.

NORWALK A property swap in the works would create more park space while allowing a downtown restaurant to expand. Norwalk City Council on Tuesday considered an ordinance authorizing and directing the Norwalk Community Improvement Corp. to trade a portion of the city-owned Bresson Park for a larger parcel of park property nearby.

NORWALK Ten miles of trail are now open in three sections along the railroad in Huron County, and volunteers are working to bridge the gaps. The nonprofit Firelands Rails to Trails manages nearly 15 miles of former Penn Central railroad property stretching through the county, although a group of park districts own the land.

John A. Belden, 96, of Norwalk and formerly Vermilion died Thursday, July 8, 2010, in Twighlight Gardens Nursing Home after a four-year illness.

NORWALK Two home burglaries occurred late last night within about an hour and may be related. In one home invasion, the suspect wore a bandana and mask but ran when he encountered the couple who lived there. Police are investigating. Read more in Saturday's Register.

NORWALK After being missing for more than a month, Jeremiah (Jeremy) Cook turned himself in at the Norwalk Police Department and faces a charge of unruliness. He's the third Huron County teen in a little more than a week to turn up safe after missing for a long time.
