After years of silence, the bell at the historic Huron County courthouse finally tolled again. A clock committee, formed a little more than a year ago, raised more than $30,000 to fix the clock, roof and bell.

Thomas R. Nickols, 57, of Norwalk died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, in The Bellevue Hospital.

Incoming seventh-graders must now receive a booster vaccine for diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis because of concerns about pertussis, or whooping cough, health officials said.

Huron County's airport and the local racetrack are both hoping to make safety improvements that will align with national standards. But their goals may be at odds. Summit Motorsports Park owner Bill Bader wants to use county land to build a road to Ohio 601, for an additional exit that would improve traffic flow.
