Something to cluck about: Norwalk clock tolls again

After years of silence, the bell at the historic Huron County courthouse finally tolled again. A clock committee, formed a little more than a year ago, raised more than $30,000 to fix the clock, roof and bell.

New software to help Huron Co. health department cut costs

With the state's biennial budget looking dismal, the Huron County health department is turning to creative ways to cut costs. That includes installing new software systems expected to save thousands in payroll and other expenses in the coming years.

New vaccine required for incoming seventh-graders

While you're shopping for school supplies, add a shot in the arm to the list of items your seventh-grader needs before classes start. Incoming seventh-graders must now receive a booster vaccine for diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis because of concerns about pertussis, or whooping cough, health officials said.

Airport, racetrack haggle over sand trap

Huron County's airport and the local racetrack are both hoping to make safety improvements that will align with national standards. But their goals may be at odds. Summit Motorsports Park owner Bill Bader wants to use county land to build a road to Ohio 601, for an additional exit that would improve traffic flow.
