The 2010-11 hunting season is looking bright. The overall deer harvest was up 4 percent for the 2009-10 season, and the trend is likely to continue this year. "It looks very promising,' said Bob Ford of the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Archery season opened Saturday and will run through Feb. 6. Early muzzleloader season starts Oct. 18, and regular gun season kicks off Nov. 29.

For the fifth consecutive month, sales tax revenue rose when compared to the same period last year. The money the county collected in June -- reflected in its September numbers -- was $784,629, a 20 percent increase compared to collections in 2009.
