Richard B. Hauser, July 22, 1947-Jan. 29, 2012

Richard B. Hauser, 64, of Norwalk, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born July 22, 1947, in Cleveland and lived in the Willard and Norwalk areas most of his life. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Willard High School, a 1969 graduate of Bluffton College and received his law degree from Ohio Northern University in 1972. He served the community as Richard B. Hauser, Attorney at Law, Willard, and was formerly the Huron County prosecutor for several years.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Norwalk, the Huron County Bar Association, Norwalk Elks, Willard American Legion, Eagles Aerie No. 711 and Willard Masonic Lodge. Richard was chairman of the Huron County Democratic Party and served on the board of the Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities. He loved cars, traveling, going to Las Vegas, talking politics and tinkering.

Richard is survived by his wife, Cathy E. (Ward) Hauser of Norwalk; by his children, Ronald Hauser of Lima, Ohio, Nichole and Kevin Sandy of Cincinnati, and Rebecca and David Tat of Fayetteville, N.C.; by his stepson and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Angie Winkle of Wakeman, Ohio; and by his stepdaughter, Shannon Winkle of Collins, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jade, Kaitlyn and Madison; by his stepgrandchildren, Taylor and Erica; by his mother, Clara A. Hauser Lahr of Port Richey, Fla.; by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol A. and Gary Holden of Huron; and by two nephews and a niece.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Hauser, in 1993.

Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk. The Rev. Roger Harms and the Rev. Fred Wiechers will officiate. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Willard.
