Nancy J. Heckelman, 72, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at her home.
She was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Findlay, Ohio, daughter of the late Anthony A. and Martha (Rahrig) Lather and came to the Norwalk area in 1960 from Findlay. Nancy was a 1958 graduate of Findlay High School and attended The Ohio State University. She was a second grade teacher at Norwalk Maplehurst School and the former secretary for the principal at Pleasant Street School. Nancy retired with 38 years of service as the treasurer of Dan-Mar Corp., of Huron.
She enjoyed shopping, gardening, knitting, golf and flower arranging for her father-in-law’s business, Henry's Flower Shop.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 50 years Thomas R. Heckelman, of Norwalk; her daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia A. and Tod Morrow of Washington, D.C., Lisa E. and Michael Lane, of Norwalk, and Beth A. and Dean Howman of Sandusky, her grandchildren, Nicholas Morrow, Elyse Morrow and Tiffany Kelley; her stepgrandchildren, Adam Howman, Meagan Howman, Abbey Howman and Lara Kelley, and by her great-great-granddaughter, soon to be born, Ella Decker. Nancy is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Nancy Lather, of Columbus, and JoAnn Flew, of Norwalk, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Dean Lather in 2006.
There will be no calling hours or service.
