A fire that broke out Friday evening forced a Norwalk couple and at least one young child out in the cold.
Firefighters responded to the blaze just before 6 p.m. at a single-story rental home at 94 Wooster St.
Smoke was showing from the attic vents and eaves when they arrived, Norwalk fire Lt. Dan Hunt said.
Twelve firefighters responded and remained on the scene for about two hours.
They returned at about 2 a.m. Saturday to take care of some hot spots.
The home had extensive damage, Hunt said, though there was no estimate available Saturday.
It’s not yet known what caused the fire, but Hunt said it did not appear to be suspicious.
The home is listed to Raymond and Regina Rider, according to the Huron County auditor’s website. It was last appraised in 2009, valued at a total of about $29,000.
The family is staying at a hotel provided by the Firelands chapter of the American Red Cross.
