A Norwalk man on an apparent burglary spree fell asleep on the job, police said.

A resident in the 300 block of E. Main St. called police just after 5 a.m. Sunday to report that a man tried to break into the home through the back door. As police searched the area, a resident in the 100 block of Leisure Lane called to report that someone had broken into her house and was sleeping on the floor.

The man, whom police later identified as 20-year-old John A. Bundren, was apparently drunk as his balance was so poor that he had to be escorted to the cruiser.

Police found blood on the door and carpet at the Leisure Lane home after Bundren cut himself while breaking in.

“He was not too smooth,” Norwalk police Capt. Michael Conney said. "I've seen quite a few stupid things, but this is right up there with them."
